Formula 1: Renault sets new F1 record
Nissan Patrol – Patrol Challenge – English re-direct
Nissan Patrol Challenge – English re-direct – Launched in 2012, ‘Nissan Patrol Challenge’ invited people from the Middle East region to dream up a challenge that really pushes the Patrol to its limit, to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Japan and see their idea come to life.
The Nissan Patrol Challenge reached its grand finale today with a new Guinness World Record set by the unstoppable Hero of All Terrain. In the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ghanem Alhajiri, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport, Nissan Patrol became the holder of the “heaviest object pulled by any production vehicle” Guinness World Record and notched up another historic milestone for illustrious heritage. The event, held at Sharjah International Airport, United Arab Emirates, saw an unmodified production Nissan Patrol haul a 170.9 ton cargo plane, inclusive of weight of the plane, fuel and the cargo for over 50 meters, smashing the previous record by 15 tons.
Because Nissan Middle East always aims at exceeding their customer’s expectations, the winning idea of ‘pulling a cargo plane’ was taken one step further to break a world record.
The record attempt was supported by Sharjah International Airport and held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of Civil Aviation of Sharjah. In order to express its thanks for its invaluable support, Nissan shared this accolade with Sharjah International Airport.
His Excellency Dr. Ghanem Alhajiri, said: “Sharjah has an increasing role to play in international enterprise in the Middle East and Nissan’s selection of Sharjah International Airport as part of a Guinness World Record is further evidence of the growing business importance of the emirate. We congratulate Nissan on its achievement and look forward to its future innovative campaigns.”
Commenting on this iconic moment, Mr. Samir Cherfan, Managing Director, Nissan Middle-East said: “Today Nissan celebrates another landmark day in the Middle East with its second Guinness World Record in eight months. When we began this project we encouraged the people of the Middle East to dream up the next and ultimate challenge for the Hero of All Terrain, Nissan Patrol. The overwhelming response has been the inspiration for today’s historic events and we thank all who participated and His Excellency and the Sharjah International Airport for their priceless cooperation.
“The Guinness World Record for Nissan Patrol achieved here motivates us to ensure we deliver ‘Innovation that Excites’ in everything we do in the Middle East region.”
‘Nissan Patrol Challenge’ was launched in 2012 and invited the region’s people to share their great ideas of how they have dreamt of using this iconic vehicle online. Encouraging fans to design an innovative test for the Patrol and give themselves a chance of winning an once-in-a-lifetime trip to Japan and other great prizes.
The result of this successful competition resulted in today’s Guinness World Record when Nissan Patrol comfortably dragged the Ilyushin Il-76 with a laden weight of 170.9 tons. In keeping with the indomitable Hero of All Terrain’s reputation, the Ilyushin Il-76 is known as one of the world’s toughest cargo planes, designed to be able to deliver cargo and take-off and land to some of the world’s most extreme environments.

The All-new Audi RS Q3 in the Alps
The All-new Audi RS Q3 in the Alps
The car uses the Volkswagen Group A5 platform of the Volkswagen Golf Mk5, the same as the Volkswagen Tiguan/SEAT Tribu small SUVs. The Q3 slots above the proposed Audi Q2 mini crossover. Compared to the mid-luxury compact Q5 and full-size Q7 which are positioned more for family practicality and off-road performance, the Q3 is aimed as more of a lifestyle/sports automobile.
The first-ever Audi RS SUV based on the Q3 will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and will go on sale later in the year. The RS Q3 is powered by a 2.5-liter TFSI engine mated to a seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission. With 310 PS and a maximum torque of 420 Nm (309.78 lb-ft), the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The new, 2.5-litre, five-cylinder, 310PS Audi RS Q3 is the first ever RS model in the Q series. See it thunder through some of the most challenging roads the Alps has to offer.

BMW M Performance Parts. BMW 4 Series Coupe.
The new BMW 4 Series Coupe heralds the dawn of a new coupe era at BMW. Launched as the fourth generation of BMW’s sporty mid-size Coupe, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe embodies the very essence of aesthetic appeal and dynamics in the premium segment. Its stylistic features carry the promise of a powerful presence on the road, stand-out dynamic ability and driving pleasure in abundance.
Indeed, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe represents a paragon of balanced proportions and the final chapter in a story of development. The “4” in its title headlines this new era for the Coupe and emphasizes not only its stand-alone design, but also an even greater technical differentiation from its BMW 3 Series cousins.
The new BMW 4 Series Coupe is visibly larger in width and wheelbase than the outgoing BMW 3 Series Coupe, and its dynamically stretched coupe silhouette sits considerably lower to the road. This, together with its BMW-typical short overhangs, long bonnet and set-back passenger compartment with flowing roof line, lends the BMW 4 Series Coupe impeccable visual balance. The car’s striking front end – with its characteristic BMW design features, such as the double-kidney grille, twin circular headlights and a large air intake in the front apron – is keen to display its family ties with the BMW 3 Series. However, the more sporting interpretation of the BMW 4 Series Coupe also underlines its dynamic convictions.
A new element of the BMW 4 Series Coupe are the Air Breathers, positioned rearwards of the front wheel arches to reduce drag in this area. The Coupe’s muscular wheel arches and wide track make a particularly prominent contribution to the hunkered-down design of the rear, with its prominent horizontal lines.

Speed Limit – “Speed Kills Your Pocketbook”
Does speed really kill? Sometimes, yes, but when the speed limits are set artificially low, and enforcement is targeted to those areas where the limit is far below traffic speed, then all the speed kills campaign does is keep drivers complacent about paying fines that don’t improve safety.
The video, made by the advocacy group Sense B.C., garnered more than half a million views by Saturday, three days after it was posted, and peaked at No. 3 on Reddit’s video section.
