In 2020, you either did more driving than ever before or the least amount of driving since you passed your test! Either way, we continued to see lots of cars on the roads, with many different models catching the eye for various reasons. Reliability is always a key factor for car owners, and we’ve looked back over 2020 to see which automobiles earned the title of ‘most reliable.’ Plenty of cars put their names forward, but we ended up with this shortlist for you to look at:
Toyota Prius
The newest Toyota Prius continued where the older generations left off. It maintained its status as one of the best hybrid cars on the market, with innovative engine technology offering incredible fuel economy and low emissions.
The car is also lauded for its usability, being very easy for anyone to drive. All in all, it’s a family car that people trust to get them around without any complaints. If you look at this site, you’ll see there are plenty of new and used Priuses for sale, and even the used ones look good as new. This is a testament to how reliable the car is – it can be used for a while, yet still retain the look and feel of a new vehicle.

Lexus NX
A gorgeous crossover with incredible technology and a range of exceptional driving features. The Lexus NX is also available as a hybrid, but you can get petrol-exclusive models as well. One of the main reasons the car is on this list is that it’s arguably the most fluid vehicle on the roads right now.
Whatever Lexus did with the suspension is magical, allowing the car to eat up any tiny bumps and provide a constantly smooth ride. All of the technological systems work perfectly, with no error messages constantly popping up. It’s simply the definition of reliable – there’s no stress when driving this car.

Mazda CX-5
The Mazda CX-5 is a wonderfully reliable car from one of the most reliable manufacturers on the market. You know that you’re getting a vehicle with few faults when you buy a Mazda, that’s for sure!
The CX-5 is perfectly refined, offering hardly any issues for its owners. It drives well, the technology works without any problems, and it has one of the nicest interiors around. Having been constructed out of top-quality materials, there are rarely reports of parts problems with this vehicle. There isn’t anything left to say other than that it’s a car that won’t offer problems and will always do what you ask of it.
There are plenty of notable mentions that haven’t made this list, but these three cars came out on top as the most reliable cars in 2020. One of the most interesting things about these cars is that you won’t always see them topping the charts for specific features. However, when you look at them as a whole, they just don’t seem to have many faults. They might not be flashy, but they’re certainly very reliable.
