The Fine Features Of The Ford F-150 Tremor

Ford Motor Co had a distinct market in mind when it conceptualized its first-ever EcoBoost-powered sport truck, the 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor. This shows that the company pays attention to what the consumers are saying, and for quite some time, street truck enthusiasts have been clamoring for a high-performance truck with V8 power and V6 fuel economy.

Coupling the stylings of the FX Appearance Package with the combination of the ultra-fuel efficient EcoBoost engine and a 4.10 rear axle for fast acceleration, the Tremor delivers both a distinctive look and impressive performance. The FX Appearance Package is custom-inspired and features attractive flat-black accents in the 20-inch wheels, bodyside graphics, and badges. The short wheelbase and regular-sized cab display the edgy appeal of sport trucks and hint at their capabilities.

Unlike other regular-cab F-150 models, the Tremor offers bucket seats and a flow-through console. Alcantara seat inserts, along with other F150 accessories usually only found in the aftermarket, provide both style and texture to the red-piped black leather and brushed metal interior. The “sportystreet” flavor is further made exciting by the power supplied by the 3.5-liter Built Ford Tough EcoBoost engine, which had never before been available in a short-wheelbase F-150.

This groundbreaking engine from Ford boasts 365 hp at 5,000 rpm on regular fuel, 420 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm, up to 90 percent peak torque from 1,700 rpm to 5,000 rpm, and better overall performance and fuel efficiency with the twin independent variable camshaft timing.

Both the Tremor’s two- and four-wheel-drive versions come with an electronic locking rear differential, which boosts power to the pavement with improved traction at takeoff. Other features include SYNC-powered MyFord Touch for connectivity and an optimized interface with the center stack holding more easily accessible climate controls and audio presets, making the setup more accommodating to drivers wearing work gloves.

The 2014 F-150 Tremor made its debut as the pace vehicle for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the Michigan National Guard 200 race in August 2013. It generated enough excitement to send sport truck buffs to their nearest Ford dealer for a closer inspection of the smaller and more affordable version of Ford’s well-known and well-loved F-150. While Ford is aiming for street truck enthusiasts, it has an avid following in the younger set of drivers looking for high horsepower at a lower cost. All in all, the Tremor is assured of a captive audience.

The F-TYPE Coupe visual message is defined by three key ‘heart lines’, that visual message beginning with the formidable grille. It is from the twin ‘shark gill’ openings that sit either side of the grille that the essential first heart line – which mirrors the design of the F-TYPE Convertible – flows and begins to take shape. Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.

The second heart line begins at the rear edge of the door, swelling outwards and upwards to create a visually strong wheel arch, emphasizing the car’s rear-wheel drive layout, before dropping vertically through the tail lamp ...
