Car advice of the day: Pimp My Ride – Five Awesome Car Accessory Ideas
Cars are one of the biggest purchases we ever need to make, and for many they are the vehicle owner’s pride and joy. However, all cars get a bit old or outdated eventually, and this is when it’s good to give it a new lease of life.
Anyone who has ever watched the American hit reality show ‘Pimp My Ride’ will know that it’s possible to do some incredible things to the interior of a car, though many of these ideas would see you having to take out a small mortgage. It is possible however to accessorize your car without breaking the bank.
Here are five awesome accessory ideas to get you started…
Mini fridge
The car isn’t the greatest environment for keeping drinks cold and food fresh, so why not get a fridge to go into your car? And no, we don’t mean a huge one for your kitchen (that would just be ridiculous), but a little mini one just big enough for you to fit a can of drink and a sandwich from the petrol station. That means you can set off on those long journeys knowing that your food will keep until you want to stop again. Mini fridges are powered from the cigarette lighter socket, so you can keep it on for the entire length of the journey.
Headrest TV’s
Treat your passengers to a little bit of TV or even a movie whilst you are driving them around – it may even distract them from being an annoying back-seat driver! You can get small TV monitors with built in DVD players that fit over the front seat headrests, meaning those in the back can relax and watch something on the go. This is definitely a great option if you have kids and take them on long journeys on a regular basis.
Xbox 360
You’ve got the TV screens, so why not put your Xbox 360 console in your car to make the passenger experience even more exciting? A games console instantly makes your car even cooler, and people will be arguing that you should be the driver on the next big road trip. It’s important to make sure that something like this is insured though in the event that anyone breaks into your car. Of course, with the new Xbox One coming out soon, you may want to sell the Xbox 360 once it’s considered ‘outdated’, otherwise you’re cred will instantly see a drop.
New stereo speakers
Whilst most cars come with a fairly decent factory stereo these days, the same can’t necessarily be said for the quality of the manufacturer fitted speakers. Everyone loves listening to tunes when on a road trip, so if you really want to impress people, it’s worth changing them and fitting some new ones which accentuate those all-important bass tones. Also, if you have the space (and the budget), consider putting a subwoofer to make your music even more impressive.
