New Bond Cars Revealed. Surprise, Surprise They’re All Jaguar Land Rover
After featuring heavily in the latest succession of Bond films, Jaguar Land Rover confirm their involvement with the new film. Currently shooting in London and Australia, the new film looks set for November release. Entitled Spectre, very little is known about plot details and full cast yet. To be honest, all we care about are the cars, and that’s what we’re here for!
Jaguar Land Rover have confirmed the appearance of three models that will appear in the movie. First up, there’s a return for the Land Rover Defender. In Skyfall, the Defender plays a big part in the opening sequence, with Miss Moneypenny behind the wheel. For their new part in Spectre, the Defender has been heavily modified. A special operations team have fixed gigantic off road tyres in order to film the off road scenes. Land Rover have nick-named it ‘Big Foot’.
John Edwards is the managing director of the special operations team at Jaguar Land Rover. He had this to say about the collaboration: “This is an exciting partnership for Jaguar Land Rover. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate the fantastic capabilities of the Special Operations team.’ Come November we’ll get to see exactly what the Defender can do on rough terrain.
When it comes to the Range Rover, the team have built the most powerful SUV yet. The beautiful new sport design will be showcased in the new film though we don’t have details on its exact role. All we know is that the Range Rover has been filmed on difficult terrain in Australia.
Perhaps the most exciting revelation from this announcement is the unveiling of a new Jaguar concept car. The Jaguar C-X75 is a brand new concept built in collaboration with Williams. The sleek supercar design is whetting our appetites already. From what we’ve heard, the Jag will go up against an Aston Martin in a high speed chase through Rome.
For any Aston Martin lovers, fear not, the traditional Aston will still feature! The news will also bring great joy to Jaguar dealers like H A Fox. They can expect to see figures shoot up when the film comes out. Bond cars tend to have that effect on the driving public as they crave to follow suit.
Cars have always been our favourite thing about Bond movies. Looking back over the years, there have been some truly stunning vehicles. They set the standard for luxury driving and push speed and power further than ever. Of course, the Aston Martin has been the leading lady in a good portion of the films. Starting with the DB5 in Goldfinger, Bond then experimented with the DBS and the Vantage. In Skyfall, Bond returned to his roots with the remodelled DB5. In between we’ve seen classics like the Ford Fairlane, the Lincoln Mark VII and the MP Lafer.
The new film is clearly putting vehicles at the heart of the production again. We can expect high speed chases and off road adventures. We can’t wait to see what these cars can do.
