Fiat-Chrysler sales in October 2013 (Europe)
Fiat brand reports higher October sales in several major European markets, including France (+9.6%), Spain (+55.3%) and the UK (+2.9%).
The Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda remained at the top of the A segment (combined share of 27.6%) and the Fiat 500L was the best selling vehicle in its segment for the fourth consecutive month. For Jeep, European sales were up 6.4% driven by a 48.5% increase for the Grand Cherokee. Lancia registered increases in both France (+16.9%) and Spain (+8.8%).
Fiat brand’s European sales topped 46,500 vehicles for the month (-3.5% vs. October 2012). Market share was 4.5%, decreasing from 4.8% in October 2012 but increasing from 4.2% in September 2013. The brand achieved year-over-year sales increases in France (+9.6%), the United Kingdom (+2.9%) and Spain (+55.3%).
For the year to date, brand sales were just under 491,000 vehicles (-1.9% vs. 2012) and market share was stable at 4.7%.
The 500 and Panda were once again the top selling vehicles in the A segment. With sales up 11.6% to more than 14,200 units, the 500 posted a 14.6% share and was segment leader. Runner-up was the Panda with more than 12,600 units sold and a 13% segment share. For the ten months to October, the two models had a combined 27% share of the A segment.
Sales of the 500L continued to grow and, with the success of the new Trekking and Living versions, it has been leader in its category for the past four consecutive months. With a segment share of 20.1% (up from 6.5% in October 2012), the 500L is the best selling mid-size MPV both for the month (6,800 units sold) and for the year to date (61,400 units ), demonstrating the 500 family’s increasing popularity with consumers across Europe.
Jeep sold nearly 2,500 vehicles during the month of October, up 6.4% year-over-year, with share stable at 0.2%. In addition to a 10.6% increase in Italy, the brand also posted higher sales in Germany (+31.1 %) and the UK (+0.9%).
Year-to-date, Jeep sales totaled just under 20,000 vehicles (-16.5% year-over-year) and share was stable at 0.2%.
The flagship Grand Cherokee remained among the top ten in its segment with sales increasing 48.5% over October 2012 and 4.2% for the year-to-date period (to 9,100 vehicles).
For Ferrari and Maserati, the Group’s luxury and performance brands, European sales totaled 307 vehicles in October and 3,465 for the year to date.
