Fangio’s Mercedes-Benz racecar, which written the name of legendary Argentinean driver onto the pages of history, is the vehicle to reach the highest value in history of car auction sales. A winning car from 1954was sold for incredible amount of 19.6 million pounds sterling, which is 22.7 million Euros or nearly 30 million US dollars. This racer have amazing car design.
After being inevitable part of a grandiose career, the destiny was not so prone to the vehicle itself. It spent decades stored in a warehouse, until it was pronounced one of the most significant vehicles of 20th century. The famous Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow was about to reach planetary popularity once again, this time off the race track.
It was only two years ago when Goodwood Festival of Speed hosted auction of the most famous racecar. Attracting great attention of car lovers and collectors, Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow from 1954 was given the start price of whooping 11.5 million Euros. Racecar was intact and in authentic condition which naturally affected the start price.
After one of the most spectacular vehicle auctions in history, racecar was sold for 22.6 million Euros. This sale abashed even the sale of Ferrari Testarose from 1957, which held the record till then and was sold for 12.5 million Euros.
Bonhams auction house personnel conveyed that Mercedes W196, chassis number 00006/54, was sold to anonymous buyer via phone call. There were eleven interested auction participants while only five of them got the chance to participate directly.
