Buick Celebrates 110 Years of Building Cars
Buick is a modern luxury brand offering vehicles with sculpted designs, luxurious interiors with thoughtful personal technologies, along with responsive-yet-efficient performance. Chevrolet and Cadillac may be General Motor’s highest brands, but Buick is its love. I’m sure about it.
Today, Buick produces a range of luxury vehicles including the Encore and Enclave crossovers and the LaCrosse, Regal and Verano sedans.
A Buick has served as the Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500 six different times, while the brand has won two separate NASCAR manufacturers championships. Adding to its lineup of quick cars, Buick built the 1987 GNX, which was capable of a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.6 seconds. Another impressive feat, the first Buick to reach over 100 mph was the Century, which did so all the way back in 1936.
Buick is attracting new customers with its portfolio of award-winning luxury models, including the Enclave crossover, LaCrosse sedan, Regal sport sedan, Buick Verano sedan and the all-new Encore crossover.
The Buick brand celebrates its 110th birthday this weekend. After a few years of experimenting with automobiles built at his home in Detroit, David Dunbar Buick – a former plumbing inventor and businessman – incorporated the Buick Motor Company on May 19, 1903. A State of Michigan historic site marker outside General Motors Global Headquarters at the Renaissance Center commemorates the day.
The first production vehicle, the Buick Model B, was offered to retail customers the following year.
