All-new Acura RDX Revealed at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show
The Acura RDX had record sales last year, so an all-new, 2016 model has big shoes to fill – or it will simply build on its predecessor’s momentum, depending on who you ask.
Acura made its global introduction of the 2016 Acura RDX during the 2015 Chicago Auto Show Media Preview of the. The RDX boasts numerous fresh exterior and interior design elements.
“We’re doing the unexpected to create new value for luxury buyers,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager at Acura. “That means Acura will place even greater emphasis on prestige, proportion and performance.”
The 2016 Acura RDX sports a long list of styling and performance improvements plus desirable new luxury and safety features.
The RDX arrives at U.S. dealerships this spring. It will come equipped with Acura’s new 3.5L SOHC i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management technology. The engine gets up to 279 horsepower and 252 lb.-ft. of torque.
Honda’s light-truck sales in the U.S. grew just 1.5 percent year-over-year to 702,351 units in 2014. Industry-wide, light truck sales in the U.S. last year were up 10.0 percent to 8.6 million units.
As for safety, an expanded list of AcuraWatch safety and driver-assistive technologies are incorporated in the new crossover.
The 2016 Acura RDX is expected to arrive at dealerships this spring.
