Top Selling Honda Cars in India
Overview
The internationally acclaimed car maker, Honda Motor Company of Japan had begun its India operations in 1995 and has since graduated to being one of the top most automobile players in the country. Its manufacturing plants at Greater Noida, Bhiwadi and Tapukara (the latter two in Rajasthan) produce brands like Jazz, City, Civic, Accord, Amaze, CR-V and Mobilio. According to a recent survey done by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), two models of Honda cars find a pride of place in the top ten most sold car models during Q2 of 2014. These models happen to be Honda City and Honda Amaze respectively.
Honda City
This sedan comes in 5 diesel and 7 petrol trim variants. The petrol run trims quote a price that falls in the range of Rs.7.2 lakhs to Rs.11 lakhs (Ex Showroom, Delhi). The Honda City Features are quite Cool. The diesel run trims on the other hand, fall into the price bracket of Rs.8.4 lakhs to Rs.11.1 lakhs (Ex Showroom, Delhi). The petrol variants are powered by a 1497cc 1.5 litre 4 cylinders SOHC power train that churns out a mileage of 17.4kmpl – when mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. However, for trims with automated transmission gearboxes, the mileage comes to a notch higher at 18kmpl. The diesel run trims are driven by a 1.5 litre 1498cc i-DTEC power train that churns out a peak mileage of 26kmpl. These engines (read diesel) are mated to 6 speed transmission gearboxes though.
Honda Amaze
Out in the 6 diesel and 7 petrol run trims, Honda Amaze carries a price bracket of Rs.6 lakhs to Rs.8.2 lakhs (Ex Showroom, Delhi) for the diesel ones and Rs.5 lakhs to Rs.7.6 lakhs (Ex Showroom, Delhi) for the petrol ones respectively. The petrol variants (with 5 speed manual transmission) are run by 1198cc 1.2 litre i-VTEC power trains drawing a peak mileage of 18kmpl. Whereas, for petrol power trains (with automatic transmission), the mileage drops down to 15.5kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel variants are driven by 1.5 litres 1498cc CRDi power trains churning out 25.8kmpl of mileage. The engines are mated to 5 speed manual transmission gearboxes.
Honda Brio
Honda Brio is popular hatchback makes to the marquee list in 7 petrol run trims. There are two upcoming variants of this brand as well to be made available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The petrol run variants derive their power from a 1.2 litres i-VTEC power mill that displaces 1198cc of air. This power mill generates a peak mileage of 19.4kmpl and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. These models carry the price tag of Rs.4.1 lakhs to Rs.6.1 lakhs (Ex Showroom, Delhi). The upcoming models are expected to be priced at Rs.5.2 lakhs (petrol) and Rs.6 lakhs (diesel) respectively. The diesel model is expected to churn out a mileage of 22kmpl.
