Chrysler will recall 421 cars with special-edition seating to inspect side air bag installation
Chrysler Group LLC will recall 421 cars with special-edition seating to inspect side air bag installation.
The vehicles feature seating that is modified by an upfitter. Subsequent inspections revealed a restraint-system installation procedure had not been consistently followed, leaving some seat-mounted side air bags subject to reduced function.
Statement: Special-Edition Side Air Bag
Chrysler Group is unaware of any associated injuries, accidents or complaints. Installation procedures have since been updated to prevent a reoccurrence.
The recall is limited to 2013 Dodge Darts with the “Mopar 13” upfit package. Nearly half remain in dealer hands, with 374 total cars in the U.S. and the remaining 47 in Canada.
Chrysler Group will contact affected customers next month to inspect their vehicles. If an assembly error is discovered, the air bag will be correctly installed at no charge.
Work could begin as early as next month.
