It was officially designed by Ferdinand Porsche

The Volkswagen Beetle was originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche.

Yes, that Ferdinand Porsche that founded Porsche automotive manufacturing.

The history behind Volkswagen Beetle design is actually more complicated.

It was in fact Bela Barenyi, a Hungarian automotive engineer that designed a similar model, five years prior to the revealing of Porsche’s concept.

Barenyi actually won the lawsuit for copyright infringement against Porsche and is therefore credited with having a share form Beetle’s design.

Lasted the longest in production

The Volkswagen Beetle was produced between 1938 and 2003. 65 years of remarkable car history.

And when you think that none of the Allies that occupied Germany post World War II was interested in sustaining the production of this model.

The Volkswagen Beetle can be converted into an electric car

Looking towards the future, this classical gem can be converted into an electrical car.

A partnership between Volkswagen and eClassics allows the owner of this historic car to convert it into an electric one.

There are 3 types of conversion services, all of them meaning that the old body of the car would be placed on a new chassis.

The conversion would allow for a maximum speed of 150 km/h and a range of approx. 350 km based on driving style, terrain or season.

The price for this conversion starts form 74.900 Euros.
