QASHQAI PROOF # 35: Bumpers hit by equivalent QASHQAI body-weight
To test the resistance of QASHQAI’s bumper, we launch a huge chunk of steel the same weight as the car at it. This is equivalent to a frontal shock of 4km/h and a ¾ shock of 2,5 km/h. The impact pushes the car about 1 metre backwards. The engineers then check that there is no damage to the bumper, associated parts or bodywork.

QASHQAI PROOF # 34: Car endures severe vibration tests
To ensure that the car stays in one piece, Nissan puts QASHQAI on four vibrating posts and shakes it for days. This is equivalent to countless hours of driving on a paved road. During this test, the engineers can check from the control room that the only parts moving, are those that are meant to move.

QASHQAI PROOF # 20: Leak proof in extreme conditions
The objective of the test is to ensure that there are no gaps between the various parts of the car and that the gaskets are waterproof. To do this, the car is put in an isolated chamber and water is sprayed onto the car with a force equivalent to a monsoon. Then the engineers check that there are no leaks.

QASHQAI PROOF # 28: Door slammed 27 times a day in a 20-year simulation
To make sure the side doors of the car are as durable as possible, they are tested automatically. The door is tested to simulate opening and closing 27 times a day for 20 years. The QASHQAI bonnet test also simulates opening and closing once a day for 20 years and the back door test simulates opening and closing 6 times a day for 15 years.

QASHQAI PROOF # 36: Airbag deployment performance guaranteed
Airbags are tested to ensure they deploy correctly on impact. A crash test dummy is placed on a seat and the engineers activate the airbag remotely. This test is done on side and front airbags.

QASHQAI PROOF # 7: 5 stars in Euro NCAP crash test (23rd May, 2007)
Long before a Nissan car is launched into the market, intensive computer simulations are carried out on the design. When the design is almost finalised it goes through a series of physical crash tests. The car is subjected to various frontal impact configurations (up to and beyond the Euro NCAP test speed). Side impacts that mimic a car-to-car impact, and pole side impact that simulates having a side impact into a tree. In these tests a family of dummies is called upon to ensure safety for all, from an 18-month-old child to a full size adult. QASHQAI has been crash-tested 178 times and has international safety acclaim by independent research groups, not to mention a maximum five star rating for adult occupant protection with the highest score ever in crash tests by Euro NCAP.

QASHQAI PROOF # 11: Tested under extreme Arctic conditions
To allow you to enjoy your car for as long as possible, we test the car under extreme conditions. We put the car in a chamber that we chill to -40°C. Frost starts to develop on the car. Then the engineers make sure that all the parts move and the systems work.
