Renault Captur: The Urban crossover

Captur is the new urban crossover from Renault.

Its flowing lines highlight its distinctive proportions, while its large wheels, generous ground clearance, wide tracks and steeply raked, forward-set windscreen form a unique blend of MPV, SUV and hatchback, conceived and made reality by Renault.

Driving pleasure and fuel economy are the common denominators of Captur’s 100% turbo engine line-up. Available petrol engines include the Energy TCe 90 (three cylinders and just 898cc) and the TCe 120 EDC (four cylinders, 1,198cc). The latter is available exclusively with EDC transmission (Efficient Dual Clutch) which delivers outstanding driving comfort. When it comes to diesel power, the Energy dCi 90 uses only 3.6 litres/100km and emits just 95g of CO2 per km*, which are record low figures for Captur’s class. This model will also become available with EDC transmission at a later date.

Petrol engines
– Energy TCe 90 (0.9 litres): 90hp – 4.9 litres/100km 113g of CO2/km
– TCe 120 EDC (1,2 litres): 120hp – 5.4 litres/100km 125g of CO2/km

Diesel engines
– Energy dCi 90 (1.5 litres): 90hp / 3.6 litres/100km / 95g of CO2/km
– dCi 90 EDC (available in the second half of 2013)

In the ECO mode, Renault Captur itself assists in reducing consumption (except versions powered by EURO4 engines). This function is activated by pressing the ECO button on the centre console and permits fuel consumption savings of up to 10% depending on driving conditions, driving style and traffic levels.

Renault Captur is built at the Valladolid plant in Spain, where particularly close attention has been paid to product quality and environmental impact. Up to 16% of the plastics used in Captur’s production are sourced from recycling – an outstanding achievement, even if not visibly apparent. Renault Captur, which is due to go on sale from April 2013, will bring a splash of welcome colour and glamour to the B segment, but without losing sight of the need to deliver common-sense practicality at the same time.

Renault Captur is an urban crossover with a warm, friendly look. Its compact footprint (4.12m x 1.77m x 1.57m) and large 16- or 17-inch wheels proclaim its sporty vocation and lust for adventure, while its substantial ground clearance (200 mm) raises it to the level of a number of crossovers and 4x4s from the next segment up.

The F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE Coupe are powered by 3-liter supercharged V6 engines in 380hp and 340hp forms respectively, giving 0-60 mph in 4.8/5.1 seconds and top speeds of 171/161 mph2.

The F-TYPE Coupe visual message is defined by three key ‘heart lines’, that visual message beginning with the formidable grille. It is from the twin ‘shark gill’ openings that sit either side of the grille that the essential first heart line – which mirrors the design of the F-TYPE Convertible – flows and begins to take shape. Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.

The second heart line begins at the rear edge of the door, swelling outwards and upwards to create a visually strong wheel arch, emphasizing the car’s rear-wheel drive layout, before dropping vertically through the tail lamp ...
