All new Ferrarri LaFerrari Hybrid – Ferrari unveiled a V12 powered hybrid supercar at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show
The new car, called the Ferrari LeFerrari, has a 789-horsepower gasoline engine and a 160-horsepower electric motor.
The Ferrari LaFerrari (also known as the F70, and by its project name, F150) is the name of the limited edition hybrid sports car built by the italian automaker Ferrari.
The car, and its name, were officially unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show. It is based on findings from testing of the Ferrari FXX and on research being conducted by the Millechili Project at the University of Modena
The naming protocol aside, that is not the only mold-breaking feature of this successor to the Enzo supercar. LaFerrari also has no seats – not in the traditional sense, anyway. Seating positions are molded, padded forms that are incorporated right in the carbon-fiber tub. The steering wheel and pedals adjust to the driver.
LaFerrari is also a hybrid. It gets 161 of its 950 horsepower from an electric motor arrangement mounted at the back of its 7-speed automated transaxle. A 6.3-liter gasoline-burning V-12 – with a redline of 9,250 r.p.m. – supplies the remaining 789 horsepower in the equation. Ferrari, based in Maranello, Italy, says the combination produces something in excess of 660 pounds-feet of torque.
The car also features “active aerodynamics.” Spoilers and flaps deploy automatically only when needed to provide road-holding downforce.
LaFerrari will be limited to production of only 499 units. No exact price was announced, but something around $1 million has been widely reported.
Ferrari has not yet announced a price for the car.
