For the first time since 1997, when the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique shared, one car sold under two different marques has claimed a single 10Best award. The differences between the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are some exterior colors and trim, and the BRZ comes stand­ard with a navigation unit, equating to a $1310 premium over the $24,955 FR-S. Critics of the ­Scibaru are quick to point out its unrefined and buzzy shortcomings.

The Scion FR-S Sports Coupe Concept (where “FR-S” means Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport) was unveiled at the 2011 New York International Auto Show.

The first Scion FR-Ss have been sold in the USA. These were sold to “First 86” customers.

According to the North American Scion FR-S sales brochure, optional equipment is limited to the selection of an automatic transmission, with steering wheel installed shift paddles. The interior colour is black with a choice of seven exterior colour choices. The audio system is supplied by Pioneer rated at 300W, and is iPod/Bluetooth/HD Radio compatible with an external audio jack. Safety equipment includes Toyota##Q##s Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Brake Assist with Smart Stop Technology. The seatbelts are three-point for all seating positions, with Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractors on all positions.

Six airbags are installed (driver and front passenger, front seat exterior side bolster, and side curtain) Passenger accommodation is limited to four people.

The 2013 Scion FR-S is rated at 200 hp (149 kW) at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb·ft (205 N·m) at 6,600 rpm.


Price
The base price for the Scion FR-S is $24,930, which is $24,420 less expensive than the average for all Coupe Cars.

Vehicle Type
This 2-Door Coupe seats 4 passengers. Available with RWD, the drivetrain in the 2013 FR-S sends power to the wheels through a standard 6-speed Manual transmission.

Gas Mileage
The Scion FR-S achieves 22 MPG in the city, which is 29.4% higher than the average for all Coupe Cars, and 30 MPG on the highway, which is 15.4% higher than the average for all Coupe Cars.

5-liter supercharged V8 engine and will reach 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, and a top speed of 186 mph (electronically limited)2. The F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE Coupe are powered by 3-liter supercharged V6 engines in 380hp and 340hp forms respectively, giving 0-60 mph in 4.8/5.1 seconds and top speeds of 171/161 mph2.

The F-TYPE Coupe visual message is defined by three key ‘heart lines’, that visual message beginning with the formidable grille. It is from the twin ‘shark gill’ openings that sit either side of the grille that the essential first heart line – which mirrors the design of the F-TYPE Convertible – flows and begins to take shape. Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.
