For the first time since 1997, when the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique shared, one car sold under two different marques has claimed a single 10Best award. The differences between the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are some exterior colors and trim, and the BRZ comes standard with a navigation unit, equating to a $1310 premium over the $24,955 FR-S. Critics of the Scibaru are quick to point out its unrefined and buzzy shortcomings.

Safety equipment includes Toyota##Q##s Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Brake Assist with Smart Stop Technology. The seatbelts are three-point for all seating positions, with Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractors on all positions.
Six airbags are installed (driver and front passenger, front seat exterior side bolster, and side curtain) Passenger accommodation is limited to four people.
The 2013 Scion FR-S is rated at 200 hp (149 kW) at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb·ft (205 N·m) at 6,600 rpm.
