Final F-TYPE Pre-Launch Videos Give New Insight into Extensive Testing Programme

The F-TYPE, Jaguar‘s all-new sports car, will make its public debut in just one week’s time: Thursday 27th September, at the Paris Auto Show.

A front-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible, three models of F-TYPE will be available.

Powered respectively by 340PS and 380PS versions of Jaguar‘s new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine and a new derivative of its 5.0-litre V8 supercharged unit, each F-TYPE is engineered for pure dynamic driving reward and stunning performance.

A man who knows better than most the driving experience that the F-TYPE will deliver is Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, Jaguar: “Fundamentally, a great sports car is one you’ll look forward to driving because it’s fun, and the F-TYPE definitely delivers on that score. We’ve worked hard to make sure that responses to steering, throttle and brakes are absolutely immediate, a task made far easier by the rigid aluminium structure at the car’s base. It’s precise and exciting, a car that you’ll want to drive for the sake of driving alone – and it sounds fantastic!

In ‘Fierce’, filmed at the Nardo Test Facility in Italy, the F-TYPE is put through the most rigorous high-speed testing by Jaguar‘s engineers.

The unique ring shaped track means that test drivers can not only VMax the car but it’s also possible to stress test at the most extreme high temperatures. Watch as the F-TYPE is pushed to its limits to ensure outstanding performance

The film ‘Focused’ was filmed at The Nürburgring motorsports complex in Germany. Nürburgring features a Grand Prix race track and an older “North Loop” track, nicknamed the “Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart, which is widely considered one of the most demanding purpose built racing circuits in the world – there is nowhere else like the Nordschleife (the North Loop).

Here the car is tested through a series of sustained high speed laps with rapid changes of direction, gradient, speed, braking, and surface to help refine the cars set up, damping, braking systems, for the most punishing lap on the Green Hell.

Proving the cars sporting credentials and real world liveability

On 27th September, the Jaguar Paris Auto Show press conference will take place at 08:00 (CEST) on stand 101, hall 5.1.

The F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE Coupe are powered by 3-liter supercharged V6 engines in 380hp and 340hp forms respectively, giving 0-60 mph in 4.8/5.1 seconds and top speeds of 171/161 mph2.

The F-TYPE Coupe visual message is defined by three key ‘heart lines’, that visual message beginning with the formidable grille. It is from the twin ‘shark gill’ openings that sit either side of the grille that the essential first heart line – which mirrors the design of the F-TYPE Convertible – flows and begins to take shape. Running up through the headlamp, and accentuated by the LED ‘J blade’ signature running lamps, the line then arcs up over the front wheel arch before dropping elegantly as it runs through the door, washing out into the muscular rear haunch.

The second heart line begins at the rear edge of the door, swelling outwards and upwards to create a visually strong wheel arch, emphasizing the car’s rear-wheel drive layout, before dropping vertically through the tail lamp ...
